But when your week has been filled with cars not starting, getting stuck in snow, and a accident involving a snowblower, ice & slip-n-fall and black eye and bloody nose, city buses not showing up to get to work then yes, I start to dislike winter. Maybe not the cold per say, but the hassles that come from it.

Bad week!!
Car not starting have a good battery, and if need be, start it during the night at least once, and if it stays outside during work, start it up on one of the breaks. THis helps a lot. During the cold, if we let our cars or truck stay out over night, like (like -15 or -20), at a hotel for example, then I usually will some time during the night get up and take the dog out for potty, and at the same time go start the truck and let it run for ten minutes.
At work, many times during the cold spells, I will go over there, or she will go out on one of her breaks and start it up and let it run for ten minutes.

As for the battery, make sure that it is a high cc like up near 750 or higher or something like that. Also it really helps when starting to get inside the vehicle asap, and get the door shut, so the inside light does not stay on for as long as possible. Then make sure that the radio, and the fan on the heater blower is not on, but all the way turned off. That way the car is not drawing a lot of extra power trying to turn over a cold engine. Let the car run, then if need be go back outside and clear any snow or ice off.

Also a huge tip for helping keep the windows clear, is when you get to about 2 or three blocks still to go to work or some other place where the car will be outside for a bit is to turn the heater on cold and turn the fan up to high, and power down the two front windows to about half way down, this will help get rid of some of the warm air that is still in there, and not let it get so much on the window, thus not letting the ice build up as much making scraping a bit easier.

Ground froze so hard it lifted the foundation of the garage and the service door is stuck. Snow blower is on the fritz. I guess winter is finally starting to take its toll.

But I feel rather nostalgic. These are the winters I remember from my childhood. Time for cozy woodstove fires, hot soup and cinnamon buns fresh from the oven.

The cat steps out on the deck to take a few sniffs of the air to see who's been calling, shakes a front paw and comes back inside.

We have wonderful snow "mountains" piled up around the neighborhood that the child in me envies. Haven't seen a single child bundled up and out to make a snow fort or play a forbidden game of King on the Hill. And we call them "snowflakes?"

All this snow rocks! Finally able to snowmobile in the metro area again. It has been a couple 2-3 years.

The odds of your Dog being eaten by a Gator are nill unless you allow it to go to the edge of a pond.

Florida has 4X the population that Minnesota has, and Florida's growth rate is 2X Minnesota's, so Storms and Gator's are not keeping many people away from Florida.

I've seen a lot more Minnesota car tags down here this year than ever before which is why I thought I'd visit the Minnesota forum. Why the dramatic increase? Is it the weather? Is it worse than prior years?

We like to send the bad ones down there. Makes the Mall of America less crowded.

My car hasn't had ANY problems (aside from slipping on ice a few times) and it used to be in sunny Hawaii, Arizona and Texas before Minnesota. Well, there are TWO other problems... there's ugly black chunks of ice and snow clinging on to the bottom... and gas is going back up
