But should she be let off scot free? She killed somebody when she effed up, and she should have known better. What do you think should have happened to her? Simply fired?

Good question, but doctors and police have really different roles in our society. We as a society accept that sick/injured people can often die.

And doctors pay really high malpractice insurance rates in America for that very reason.
It was a lynching, not a trial, hence the verdict. It wasn't the jury that decided Potter was guilty but the lynch mob waiting outside ready to burn down the city if they didn't get what they wanted.

I didn’t see the verdict reading, but my wife mentioned the judge seemed annoyed she was guilty. If that happened, I don’t see her giving much prison time, but Ellison is gonna play his hand in this. A drug addict with a very lengthy criminal past and meth seller lady in NE told a client guy she was going to stab him for not paying his debt. She then stabbed him and he died. Was going to be charged with 2nd degree, reduced to manslaughter and she got 5 years, and with the only needing to serve 2/3 the time, she’ll be in a few years. This cop better get same or similar.

Were you saying "justice is dead" in the early '90s with the Rodney King verdict or did you wait for white cops to actually be held accountable?

He made the bad decision to do something stupid when he was stopped by the police. When you're stopped by the police, you should never do stupid things that might result in an accident happening. That was what happened. He made a stupid choice and was killed accidentally. His future victims will not become his future victims, since his criminal career is over. His supporters choose to selectively ignore his criminal history.

Potter made a serious mistake in the heat of the moment. The differences between the taser and gun are clear when you casually examine the weapons under no pressure. But in the heat of the moment, under extreme stress and extreme pressure, you don't have the same judgement that you'd have making that decision in a split second under extreme stress and pressure. That mistake will took the life of a career criminal, who made a very bad decision, and that mistake will also be costing Potter's freedom for many years in the future. Now, Potter probably seriously regrets that she didn't retire early, like many other cops.

The overall outcome of the event and conviction will result in higher crime rates in the Twin Cities area. Criminals will be emboldened as the police back off. In the future, there will be an increased number of victims of crime in the Twin Cities, as the crime rates escalate. The better police officers will retire early or leave Minnesota for a different state that believes in law and order, and respect for law enforcement.
Hundreds of thousands of law enforcement officers work under stress and pressure but you don't see them mistaking tasers for guns. My mother was often stressed out raising 3 kids but she never mistook Corn Flakes with rat poison.

Stop making excuses for white people.

A lot of people who WANT to be police, have no business being police in the first place. They want the power, the perks etc. without the responsibilities.

Also how’s the carjacking situation, how many doors down was the nearest one? How about nightly gunshots, all auto now or are some jokers still popping off singles?
How was Potter in danger?

Jurors had been deliberating since Monday before finding Potter, who had served as an officer in Brooklyn Center, Minn., for 26 years, guilty of first- and second-degree manslaughter charges in the death of Wright.
....

Potter is believed to be the third Minnesota police officer to be convicted in the on-duty death of a civilian. The first was Mohamed Noor, a Somali-American officer found guilty of manslaughter after fatally shooting a white woman. Chauvin became the second when he was convicted of murder in April.

Guilty. I'm hoping officers think twice or even thrice, before shooting an unarmed suspect. An armed suspect is a completely different issue.

This lays the foundation for future prosecution of police officers, who have in the past been able to use I was scared and I thought he/she was armed excuse. Justice is served! (anyone catch the comic book reference?)
And while nobody is watching, Mohamed Noor is released from prison.

People dont realize that police are protected way after the public stops paying attention.

While nobody is watching? It has been widely reported in both print and on TV.
