Seems like the Summer of Love might be playing in to some of this as well. Can't have billions in damages and think that we aren't all going to pay for it in some way, and this upward taxes seems to perhaps reflect that?

Wait, WUT? You mean we the people actually have to pay for all those settlements?

Their estimated market value of just over $390k/their estimated taxable market value of just under $390k.

Yes, I imagine that is the case in most cities. City taxpayers fund lawsuits.

And this:

Quote:
Growth in the city’s tax base — such as new downtown office towers or those apartments popping up like mushrooms in some neighborhoods — usually absorbs some of that increase. That’s partly why property taxes dropped this year for many homeowners, except for people like north siders whose homes were reassessed sharply upward.

Is there going to be a growth in multi unit dwellings/businesses built in Minneapolis moving forward, or will investors remain gun shy?

Minneapolis still has to fund and rebuild the police dept. I see police salaries going up in Minneapolis (who wants to be a cop there now?) to lure in good people.

I see home taxes going up in Minneapolis, perhaps drastically again. Bohica, no lube.

9% in Edina. I knew we'd all get hit for that obnoxious settlement.

I doubt the settlement affected property taxes for Edina residents. The main driver of the increase was a steep appreciation of real estate values.
