You all should no longer fear from now...looting or rioting should cease from now on after the justice has been announced for GF. It is a shame to have these tragic and traumatic events pop one after another in the past couple of days in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic.

After all storms pass, don’t forget to reflect on what got everything started and try to dig to the root of the problem. Probably time to clean up the working culture and ethics and professionalism at MPD!

Peace and health to all!!

Why? If you were a cop would you go where you are not wanted? I think the cops should just let things go for a month or two for some balance. Maybe cops in all cities should go on strike for a month. Just let things happen for a while. Maybe things will be fine without them around?

Let them off, rehire them with better screenings to keep the bad apples away, and retrain with a higher level of professionalism and sense of public crisis. The culture within the MPD system is probably heavily contaminated and needs a thorough cleanup.

I watched some of the live streaming’s of nationwide riots and looting. What happened is unacceptable. There are politically motivated organizations thriving at this opportunity that MPD fed them with to fulfill their social and political agendas.

From this point on, civilian reaction to police brutality will only get worse, similar to my spring allergy to pollen which gets more severe and unpredictable with each episode. Police forces across the nation need to be proactive about how to do damage control and avoid public agitation by implementing appropriate guidelines in policing.

As a strong proponent of law and order, I will continue to support strong policing unconditionally. As a society, we have to reassess and resolve the problem with the growing anti-police sentiment among civilians that are largely provoked by a few bad apples in the police force.

I agree that your governor and mayor appear to be overwhelmed by guilt to the rioting community and have become incapacitated to lead and protect law abiding citizens from the riots. They are weak leaders in this aspect. On the other hand, don’t have high false hopes in the president either because he has to maintain a delicate balance between being a tough guy and an electable candidate. Give him four more years he will work on the Antifas and other terror-prone SJW groups.

Remember, we all should treat a crime as a crime and remain color blinded to avoid social divides. There will be no winners of either a civil war or a race war. However, per my humble assessment, the intensifying political and socioeconomic divides within the US are leading this country towards an irreversible split between the two ruling parties and their civilians base. What unites a nation is that its citizens share and fight for a predominant set of core values. The two parties clearly are deriving distinct sets of core values for each of its civilian bases. As this continues to evolve, the country is technically evolving into a monstrous entity with two heads on the same body that constantly contradict with each other. While I hope for the best for this country, I am afraid to say that we haven’t seen the worst of the worsening situation yet. When neither of the two parties is willing to listen to nor compromise with each other, you have to ask what other options are left...

I just casted another spell on the rioters and looters so everyone can have a peaceful and safe weekend!!

Those days ended on 9/11, and will never return.
And there is no culture that binds us, which is even more important.
This is why I notice poorer people in Latin American countries being happier overall; whereas Americans are merely satisfied. At least many are, as America is all about handing out pacifiers.
As for policing, not one study has shown more = less crime.
In fact, we shouldn't be seeing them unless they are called; as their speed patrols only create more animosity. Putting a uniformed mannequin in a marked unit is more effective, but of course would eliminate policing for profit.

No offense, but thanks

Time for the people of The Cities to take charge

The average response time of a 911 call is Day's, the response time
of a 9mm/.357 or .44 magnum is 1400 feet per second.'

The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.

We don’t have cops to protect the law abiding citizen, we have cops to protect people accused of crimes and to ensure that they receive due process. Think back to areas of the Old West before there were lawman on the scene. If someone was accused of a crime, “justice” was administered on the spot. The public was safe but innocent people were often hanged.

This was the abysmal failure of MPD: they failed to protect George Floyd and ensure that he received the protection to which someone accused of a crime is entitled. Whether they caused his death, well let’s wait for the autopsy reports and let a jury decide. But it’s pretty clear that they deprived him of his rights and the Feds are on that case already. They just customarily wait for the state to adjudicate its charges.

If those who call for the abolishment of the police force— and there are a few on our city council— got their way, it would be at the expense of the criminals, not the law abiding citizens. Forced to protect themselves, we’d no longer have jails, probation, deferred prosecution agreements or any of that. There would be no repeat offenders.

That’s not the world I want to live in.

This is due to their union holding every city budget hostage, along with said taxpayers.
40% of ours goes towards one building, the police; whose starting rookie salaries are $68K.
We don't need this many, and they are poorly trained; a matter I've already discussed with the chief.
Due to the pandemic, we now have a huge budget deficit.
Yet we must continue to over-employ a service we could reduce, for a profession that is self-serving in so many ways.
