Same. It's like they have to feel you out to determine whether you're even worthy of basic kindness. The sense of superiority from Minnesotans is astounding considering it has such an "Anytown, America" vibe. But we all know superiority complexes are born of insecurity.

I grew up there (Burnsville, MPLS and then further north...), but would not raise kids in MPLS now. The school systems are simply too idiotic.

Too many of the MPLS progressives that have embedded themselves in the school systems are way out there on the lunatic fringe, and insist on doing things the stupid way, over and over. They just dont learn.

The MPLS school system is looking at trying the same failed social "justice" left wing policies that Saint Paul suffered through, worshipping at the feet of Glen Singleton and the Pacific Education Group, all on the tax payers dime of course.

Undisciplined: Chaos may be coming to Minnesota classrooms, by decree - StarTribune.com

Of course, some residents find these regressive, racialist, expensive policies to be a positive thing , because social "justice".

"Regressive"...

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

becoming less advanced; returning to a former or less developed state.

The word applies perfectly to those that support the racial bean counting policies in education that MPLS is going to.

Saint Paul went backwards in the quality of education when they tried it. You know, they regressed.

The author is a conservative. So what? Those policies need to be criticized by somebody. She is basing her critiques on known, recent failures.

Here is another piece she wrote, regarding the Saint Paul school system that went to these policies Minneapolis is moving towards.

Plenty of input from progressive Saint Paul teachers and parents is included in the article.

i didn't say anything one way or another. it's just disclosure

i see plenty of implications about input from those you mention but i don't really see anything solid. i also see a bit of hyperbole especially with the use of "anarchic". good lord.

good talk.

Yet more from City Pages:

Distrust and Disorder: A Racial Equity Policy Summons Chaos in the St. Paul Schools | City Pages

And the Star Tribune:

St. Paul teachers threatening strike over school violence - StarTribune.com

Many of the classrooms were indeed anarchic.

You would think Minneapolis school districts would have learned from Saint Paul's failures..........

The only failure I see it the failure of Minnesotans to change their ways. Enjoy your glory days while you can. Refusing to change will eventually come back to haunt you. The world is changing, and you won't be able to sustain your fictitious utopia forever.

Minnesota is not as horrible as you think it is. While I acknowledge the unfortunate racial disparities in the state (which affect me as a person of color), I think Minnesotans bend over backwards to rectify them, and that's ALL I expect: It's the effort that matters, and change won't happen overnight. That's what I like about Minnesota: The people (even some conservatives in my experience) are welcoming to outsiders. Not all (I've seen racist comments on Star Tribune and Pioneer Press), but many are. Someone I know who lives in Seattle told me that Minneapolis doesn't even feel Midwestern to him. Have you ever been to Wisconsin, my primary residence?
