Is this a generally agreed to opinion? I've always thought of Fridley as being slightly "nicer" than Columbia Heights.

I think your right, I don't know why I thought it wasn't. I'd put Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Mounds View all in the same category.

You guys really like Cub Foods? I'd much rather go to Rainbow or Super Target. Cub stores just seem really crappy and dirty with the way food is put on the shelves.

Cub is terrible and costs noticeably more money then Target, why does anyone go there? We shop at Super Target for 95% of things and buy all our fruit/veggies and meat at Byerlys and our local meat market.

Cub Foods is actually pretty awesome for coupons and sales, and most non-sale items are pretty reasonable, although there are a few that make me wonder what they're thinking. I shop at all three, so it's easy for me to spot the few overpriced items. I sometimes wonder how often the price setters shop the competition, because they seem slow to respond to Target and Walmart price drops.

The "weirdest" thing you'll notice about Cub is that they don't employ baggers. You need to do that yourself. One of their early slogans was "bag a lot of savings!" They claimed that they passed their lower labor cost to you with lower prices. That's not really weird to me though, since my family shopped at Cub for most of my childhood.

Watch the mail for Cub coupon books. They also usually have current flyers and coupon books near the front doors or at the customer service desk.

They didn't have baggers at Rainbow for a long time either. I think its only been in the last few years that they started bagging your stuff there, and even at some of them I still go to its about a 60/40% chance that they actually do bag your stuff. If its really busy it seems that the baggers get reassigned to cashier duty to make the lines shorter.
