I am an emerging young (26) nutrition professional who yes is a single, lesbian who is looking to relocate from Oklahoma to the Twin Cities. I have family in the area so know a bit about it but would also like any thoughts on the city from a 1) young 20-30's side and 2) lesbian side.
Where would I look to settle, live? Best places to meet others?
Thanks!

I'm not lesbian, but I'm a woman in my 30s, and have a lot of lesbian friends. There seem to be a ton of young lesbian women around, so I think you'll find a robust dating pool. I think living within city limits is going to be your best bet (that's where most, although not all, other young professionals are going to live.) I have lesbian friends my age who live in the 'burbs, but they are in the settle-down-buy-house-raise kids mode. (of local TC suburbs, Golden Valley is nice and has a ton of lesbian-headed households, but my impression is that it is more the married couples with kids kind of place and not the young and single location of choice.)

What kind of neighborhood do you like? Uptown and Lyn-Lake are very popular with younger professionals and has a lot of lesbians, although I don't know what it's like from the dating side of things. It would be a good place to live to meet others in their 20s and 30s, including those who have also recently relocated. If you are religious, some of the Uptown-area churches have very large GLBT congregations. Volunteering is also a great way to meet people. There's a strong community/philanthropic tradition in the Twin Cities, so getting involved in whatever causes interest you will be a good way to meet people. Also check out local meetup groups.

Just curious, but why are you making the move? Oklahoma and Minnesota seem worlds apart to me.

I would recommend Minneapolis neighborhoods of Powderhorn, Seward or Longfellow.

If you enjoy riding a bike, you will meet a lot of people very quickly.
