My thoughts? Basically exactly what they said:

"On the positive side, Miami has a very unique aesthetic and vibe. Spanish architecture, art deco, palm trees, cool skyscrapers, elevated rail, tropical colours — it’s really nice. We were even pleasantly surprised by the transit, especially for a place not known for it. On the negative side, this might be the most pedestrian-unfriendly major city we’ve ever walked around, definitely in recent memory. It’s the design of the roads, which feel like highways and sometimes literally are highways. It’s the oversized cars with tinted windows and drivers acting like pedestrians don’t matter."

Cannot argue with their findings regarding traffic and pedestrians—if I die prematurely it will be from getting hit by a car while crossing the street.

Caught most of the video, but skipped the North Beach part….would’ve been curious to hear their observations had they visited Brickell, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables—3 of the most popular and desirable places in Miami to not only visit as a tourist but to live. Unless I missed something looks like they focused on Little Havana, Wynwood, downtown (a work in progress and excluding Brickell), touristy section of SoBe (Ocean Dr) and North Beach on their short 4 day visit.

They gave thumbs up to Miami’s transit and I took their skyscraper/skyline commentary as positive, unlike some who label it as “glass”, boxy and uninspiring.

I'm one of those critics lol... To me, it's one of those that looks great from a distance due to scale and backdrops (Biscayne Bay, etc.) but gets uglier the close you get:

Looks nice at night when lit up. Looks quite drab driving through during daylight.

LOL! This is the only part of living in Miami that bothers me. The level of ignorance when driving exceeds anything I have ever seen. But, the weather, the beach, the food, Latin culture, and the weather! Also, this city is very clean compared to other cities in US!

I'm also a critic as well, but tbh every major city in North America has this issue. But for me, I care more about street level animation, which Miami is still really awful at. Thankfully, newer developments are fixing this, so it's adding more life and character.

There's still lots of land left to properly develop, so if everything goes well, it will add more and better urbanism for the city. Hopefully we can get year round pedestrian streets downtown as well.
