Florida ranked number 1. New York and NJ ranked 44th and 49th.

Overall, FL may be good but Miami is better off for above average income retirees—not for everyone, especially income challenged types or those mostly dependent upon Social Security to fund their retirement. Plenty of other less expensive in state and out of state options.

Would you want to retire in Miami? Great city, but I think I’d prefer a slower pace if I were retiring.

I retired early with plenty of gas left in the tank left and enjoy the conveniences of urban living, so in my case—yes, at least for now ……will I remain here in 5, 10 or more years?….we’ll see. A few other places within Miami Dade for others that are more suburban and slower paced.

Didn’t realize you were retired, congratulations! Key Biscayne could work well I think… Otherwise, it would have to be a bit further north to Palm Beach County for me.

There are reports like this every year, for years. Nothing new. Florida always top 10, NJ and NY in bottom 10, sometimes 49th and 50th from articles I’ve read through the years…

Many years since I was there. Miami... I'm told you'd be better prepared to live there if you learn Spanish, too.

I was reading that article, and I'm surprised Illinois isn't ranked lower. You never know with these reports what you'll see.....

I am not retired yet. Probably 10 more years to go. Will I stay in Miami? Not sure. I would like to because I like the urban lifestyle, but I could end up abroad. 10 more years of these unsustainable insurance increases and a national housing supply crisis could chase me out of the US.

Looks like insurance rates not going down in the near future. And you left San Diego at the right time. California is under siege between wild fires, earthquakes and landslides.
