Interesting piece by Bloomberg on the benefits of Miami. I foresee more movement to our great community.

As the article stated, for those earning $650K+.

I noticed from a recent visit to Madrid and the following Bloomberg article, wealthy Latin Americans are looking to that city as an alternative to Miami. Real estate prices have not risen there as dramatically as they have in Miami though they are attracting more wealthy Mexicans who historically have not flocked to Miami in as great a number as those from other Latin American countries.

This article is not useful. What movement of people making 650K will you see? and how many six figure career options does Miami have?

I'm assuming the writer of this article was told to find something to do after an early finish at the office on Friday and just created this article to make time go by to make sure he passes his 6-month performance evaluation.

Can…keyword.

Reality….average American living check to check especially in Florida where a $1300 apartment feels like upper east side prices to the locals

Is the hype real though. I’ve been hearing so much about people moving to Florida but it seems like people just storing money and investment/financial firms. I have yet to read an article or see a news reporting of a company choosing FL or S.Fla and creating or bringing at least 1k jobs!

The real question is can New Yorkers handle Miami summers.

Yeah, NYC gets heat waves, but it's usually just a few really hot days, then it's back to tolerable temperatures. Also their "nice weather" periods of the year are a lot longer than ours.

Here it's insane heat for a solid several months.

I moved from NY. For me, the weather is better here in Miami. December through May in NY is dog poop. Dark, cold, rainy, windy- mucho frio. I will take the heat here from June through October. Not that bad. The good days here are so darn good when they hit, its unbelievable. The evenings are almost always great and the sunsets are breathtaking. I did a morning run Saturday at 8 a.m. and I didn't find it too hot.

It is obscenely uncomfortable.

I live in central Florida. The temperature today is 88 degrees with high humidity. The Real Feel is 99 degrees. The Dew Point is in the 70's which is rated "Intolerable". And it stays there for a long long time.

Everyone stays in their hermetically sealed air conditioned homes and offices, using their air conditioned cars in between.

I much prefer the short winter in NYC as opposed to the never-ending summer in Florida.
