I hope not. It's crazy that NY had the worst air quality in the world for a short period. I guess all places are at risk of climate change; not just Miami as is often ranted about on this forum. I am supposed to fly to NY tomorrow. Hoping my flight gets cancelled. I don't think I want to be breathing that toxic air.

And a cousin posted on FB from his Manhattan apartment….looks eerily similar to SF a few years ago when they had out of control wildfires in the state. Orange skies on a sunny day.

Get yourself a N95 or greater mask. It may not eliminate all the particles, but it will eliminate many. You want to keep as most particles out of your lungs as possible, especially if you have asthma. Then make sure you spend the rest of the time indoors with an air purifier on high (or if where you are going has central a/c, that will purify the air though temps are low for June) and the windows and doors closed. When riding in a car, all windows shut and put on the a/c, plus wear the mask just in case some of the particles seep in.

Bandanas, scarfs, cloths masks, surgical masks is like having nothing when it comes to fire smoke. It has to be N95 or greater if you want some of the particles to be eliminated from the air you breathe in.
