Wow, didn't realize that

Awesome how, to protect the Hawaii house, they are building "A controversial sea wall can be seen just a few feet from the shoreline. Environmentalists say it encourages beach erosion"

Because sea rise is grossly overestimated, and develop greed is grossly underestimated.

I really wish we could leave ideology out of this discussion.

The main flooding in miami is due to large rain events and the water not being able to drain seeing as though were so close to the water table (which fluctuates seasonally). As a result most municipaities are raising BFE (base flood elevation) in their zoning code. What this means is that all new buildings will get built where their ground floor is several feet higher.

This is already happening, take a look at the target on 5th st in south beach. Youl see that the ground floor is built up about 2 1/2 feet from the lowpoint of the sidewalk.

So over the next few decades as all the new buildings will be brought up to the higher levels. That will allow municipalities to raise the streets and sidewalks in the public right of way up. That in combination with better draingage systems with pumps, etc. and business will go on as usual.

trick question: ever wonder why so many of the old historic buildings on South Beach.....especially around Alton and Flamingo Park....have steps going up to the front doors?

No but I can tell you that I live in a house built in 1925 in the Roads and the house is built on a crawl space with steps up to the front door. They knew the soil was wet and damp when the water table rises so they raised the floor considering the floor is built out of wood when the foundation is built out of contrete.

Exactly.

So the doomsday scenario that many are peddling makes little sense. For the most part, business as usual.

Miami is the new Maldives for these cons....the islands in the Pacific that were supposed to be under water a long time ago...for years the Maldives were the poster child of sea level rise

They shut up about them....because not only are the Maldives not under water....the islands have grow bigger...the complete opposite of what they were saying and predicting

...so they just moved on to Miami
