Took the Brightline to Orlando this week for an industry conference. Amazing trip! 3.5 hours from Miami Central to the Orlando station. The 3.5 hours went by surprisingly quick. The scenery is very nice after you pass West Palm. Lots of dunes, trees and water. And of course the train is super comfortable. Go Brightline!

Can't wait for a Tampa station to open, but that's years away still.

The only HSR corridor in the US right now is the NE Corridor between Boston and DC. I believe that the Avella Liberty can go up to 160 mph regular service, 186 mph max with tilting, and 220 mph max w/o tilting meaning that it has to travel on a straight line (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avelia_Liberty). The current rolling stock is still the Acela, which is 70 mph average and 150 mph max (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acela).

In order for such service to be fully feasible, you'd have to place such trains where there are much longer distances between cities such as the Midwest and the Great Plains. The NE Corridor is too concentrated with major and smaller cities between Boston and DC for trains to go up to 150.

The Siemens Charger (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens_Charger) goes up to 125 mph, meaning that it's 25 mph too slow for the Brightline system to be considered too slow to be a HSR service, as 150 mph is considered the international standard for HSR.

Thanks for the nice report! I got down to South Florida (mostly Broward) a few times a year for business and I am debating with myself about driving from Gainesville to Orlando, and then taking the Brightline from the airport to Ft. Lauderdale. I wish it stopped at that airport so I could rent a car, but it looks like there are no car rentals at the Fort Lauderdale stop.
