I am a fan of Klaw. Need to try Sushi Bar. I have heard a lot of good things about that spot.

I really enoyed my meal at Contessa--prefer the food and vibe to Carbone.

The wine list is much more reasonable--the cheapest bottle of Amarone, with a handwritten label, started at $400 at Carbone whereas I had a very good bottle of Valpolicella ("baby Amarone") for $65 at Contessa....you don't get the freebies that you do at Carbone (no garlic bread basket or Italian cookies after dinner) but the pasta sauces are better (I don't get why people go crazy over the spicy rigatoni sauce at Carbone--flavorless) and the veal is as good or better.

Nice upstairs dining room, bar (where they will serve you food) and terrace at Contessa as well with a good looking Design District crowd.

Not sure if Sofia, also in Design District, is from same Toronto group that has brought us Byblos and Amal.

From Miami to Manhattan, the 14 Most Anticipated Restaurants in America — Bloomberg

Pastis

"Star restaurateurs Stephen Starr and Keith McNally are opening the second outpost of New York’s iconic French brasserie Pastis in Miami’s Wynwood District at NW 26th Street. The massive, 8,000-square-foot restaurant, plus a sprawling outdoor patio, has been designed by McNally and Paisely Design’s Ian McPheely, who also created the Manhattan location. The restaurant will serve the French classics it’s known for, including escargots swimming in garlic butter, croque madame or monsieur, and hanger steak frites.
Projected Opening: February"

Interesting on Contessa. I tried to eat at the bar downstairs and they said they don't serve food. Probably true, but why didn't they tell I can get food upstairs. LOL!!

I can't wait for Pastis to open!!! This was one of my "go to's" when I was in NY. I keep driving by the Wynwood location to check-in on the construction progress. It looks like a summer opening.

I’m as or more excited about Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro coming to Coral Gables.

If I’m not mistaken, Keith McNally is involved with Pastis….would love for him to open a Minetta Tavern here with his Black Label Burger (more like chopped steak), which is my gold standard.

Yes, you’re correct. He will also be doing the rooftop bar for Nomad Residences being built in Wynwood. I love the direction Wynwood is headed in.

This is pretty big news—Massimo Bottura who operates a 3 star Michelin restaurant in Modena, Italy (Osteria Francescana) is opening a restaurant in downtown Miami this spring at the Julia & Henry buiiding.
