Wow! I was just on call with one of my Dubai clients. I should ask them if they've been to his spot in the UAE. I am taking down office space in Wynwood near Pastis. Gonna be a lot of work dinners happening there.

The massive, 8,000-square-foot restaurant, plus a sprawling outdoor patio, has been designed by McNally and Paisely Design’s Ian McPheely, who also created the Manhattan location. The restaurant will serve the French classics it’s known for, including escargots swimming in garlic butter, croque madame or monsieur, and hanger steak frites.

A bunch of the world's most talented chefs and restaurateurs are flocking to South Florida to open new establishments. They are drawn by the area's dynamic energy and the opportunity to be part of its vibrant and exciting culinary community. Expect to see a wide range of cuisines and styles, from classic French and Italian to contemporary fusion and farm-to-table. Already established chefs and restaurateurs are also expanding and renovating their existing establishments to keep up with the area's ever-increasing demand for the highest-quality food and drink in the world.

Agree….it’s always amusing to read from other US C-D cities who wish they had a Thomas Keller etc etc restaurant in their city who falsely equivocate that renowned chef opening here in only his 3rd or 4th market with a Landry’s mega chain restaurant in their 40th US metro. As if Surf Club and a Sysco supplied Morton’s, Oceanaire or Del Frisco’s are comparable or a Per Se in NYC (a 3 star Michelin) "must be staffed with a B team" because it’s not the original Keller restaurant, French Laundry….haters gonna hate.

This is what transplants from CA, NY and elsewhere--especially wealthy ones--do: they demand, attract and elevate the amenities offered by Miami, of which the dining scene is one example. Not everyone can afford or benefit from this, but those who can, do.

A sample of what we can probably look forward to from Massimo Bottura when he opens up his second US restaurant here in Miami (downtown, block behind Fratelli Milano):

Drooling. Looks so good. Downtown gonna be something special when the Flagler Street renovation is completed and more great restaurants and businesses open.
