I am moving from Richmond, VA to Miami in a few years. It will be just me and my husband looking for a 2-3 bedroom condo, townhouse, or even a nice apartment comples. We do not want single family home at this point being we will be empty nesters!!! We want to live near a nice beach and would love to have a view of it. Money wise we do not want to spend more than 1,000 per month for either rent or a mortgage. I want advice on the best areas. Remember we could care less about school districts.

Thanks

You are not going to find a 2-3 bedroom size apt, townhouse or condo for $1,000 a month rent in any great areas especially in 2-3 years let alone now. You have 2-3 years who knows what prices will be like honestly you would just be wasting your time looking for specific places now. Unless, you want to take a gamble on the down market and get in on the very low mortgages rates. I would suggest that you come down a few times a year once each season to know if you really like it.

Also I imagine you meant " you cloud not care less" not you could care less. This phrase is getting shredded apart on the Internet it is somewhat worrisome.

Just read one more thing: no way you will get a view of a beach in any size apartment for $1,000 a month. If you really want a nice place on the beach and the big city stuff is not important Florida's west coast and north of Palm Beach is cheaper. $1000 a month rent does not even get you 700 square foot studio in good areas like downtown or Miami Beach.

I've lived in both places, Miami and Miami Beach, and FlyMIA is right - you are going to be hard pressed to find any nice apartments near the beach with 3 bedrooms. However, Try looking in the northern parts of Miami Beach - keeps you close to the beach but not ridiculously so. When I was there I lived off of Indian Creek Road, and there were some alright places near and around me. My place was a 2 bedroom apartment and it was pretty nice - I think they even just finished building new apartments right next to where I used to be. Only problem will be the price. Again, it's going to be near impossible to find a really nice place for only 1000. My place cost me 1400 a month, which isn't too bad from what I heard from others. Still, good deals can be found, I'm sure. But the beaches there are amazing!

Miami prices are are way higher than Richmond. You would probably like Broward or north better, and would have better luck finding something near but not in that price range. $1000 per month is more like a one bedroom.
