This has just been brought to my attention. Haven't used it yet. Apparently, it's to combat fake certs.
Once you are verified you can print your own card that has a state seal on it. These are not mandatory, but if the fake card problem persists, I could see restaurants, etc. insisting on them.

Jesus Christ man, you're living in a dictatorship. Get out of Maryland while you can.

This system was clunky to use. And it was a real pain to try to get the info for my wife, since I had already used an email address (which we share) to get my info. Whoever designed this site needs to go back to Website Design 101.

Hysterical much?

(Unless that was sarcasm. So hard to tell nowadays . . . )

I gave up when I tried it.

My little voice tells me that this may be a solution in search of a problem, unless this is the first step easing the State into a mandate to "show your papers" for everyday activities.

You used a shared email address for medical info on two adults and you're surprised you had problems?
Hipaa?

I have stopped being surprised at couples who share an email/facebook/computer account. It is frustrating when I see a Facebook post and don't know whether it is my cousin or his wiife. They don't see any problem with it.

I o the other hand have different e-mail addresses for different projects. When I register a new device or appliance for its warranty it gets an email address. This has the added advantage that when I get junk email I can often figure how they got my email address.

And HIPAA isn't as solid as some folks believe. I had a major hospital in the Mid Atlantic region use an email address that I had only used to get online with a specialist clinic for treatment be used to send me requests for donations to their Foundation. It turns out that the Internet portal that you need to sign up for to contact the clinic, get test results, etc isn't covered by HIPAA until you get into the clinic. So the email address that you use to register is available for whatever use the larger hospital corporate entity wants to use it for. (It is, of course, explained in the fine print that you had to check off when you signed up)

HIPAA is one of the most misunderstood laws out there.
