Anybody know where I can lease 40' storage trailers, and maybe an office trailer? I need them delivered to central Maine, Picataquis County, for a 3-year lease. Wife and I have called around; every place says they have no inventory, or that they don't service Maine north of Portland.

Plenty of storage containers around...but those things sit on the ground and wick moisture up to the interior. You don't ever want anything sitting directly on the ground. Even a bed of gravel won't keep them above snow level. We need to keep equipment in these, for dry storage. Unless you know of some way around this limitation?

You would think there'd be trailer rentals available right here in Maine. It's not like I want it delivered to Fort Kent! I haven't been up here long enough to know all the good places yet. But just wondered if any of you might have some ideas; I seem to be coming up empty-handed. Don't want to be King of the Road!

Mine Trailer in Hampden.

As to containers, just put them on three or four logs to keep them off the ground.

Maine Trailer | If it has to do with trailers, we do it!

Thanks.

I'm positive that we called them. I'll ask the wife if they were on her list. Looks like we may have to go with the containers, but I don't think logs are what I'd want to go with - too low. Can they put those things on cement blocks?

I know a guy who has one on round concrete pads. It is about 3 inches off the ground. As long as it is not touching the ground, you'll be OK. He uses it as a camp. It was a refrigerated box. You can heat the thing with a candle.

Research containers before you decide to move into one. I like the idea, but have dealt with them in the past in the Caribbean Basin looking toward housing. There are some pretty deadly materials used in the paint (lead, mercury), insect control (wood floors attract termites) and what gets shipped in those things. A lot of them are made overseas, or finished overseas, or are used to ship chemicals, where anything goes. They weren't built with being used for housing in mind, but can, at an expense, be retrofitted.

Oh, we aren't moving into the thing...we already have a house in Maine!

We are leasing some land in central Maine (just north of Bangor) for agro purposes. It would be used for storing tools, fertilizers, feed (in tin cans) and such. I realize that they could be contaminated, but that shouldn't be an issue with our intended use. We'd much prefer trailers to ground-level containers. Perhaps it's just the time of year...May, and everybody wants to lease a trailer. We'll try again in September!

Thanks for suggestions!
