I've been checking out these areas to reloc to LA. Job would be in Westlake Village most likely. I considered motorcycling commute if I'm riding PCH and canyons from SM to Westlake Village. Big focus will be on music, live performance and hanging out in cool neighborhoods. ABC Rehearsals in Silverlake and NoHo, so more for me to research. Seems like I'll have to rent and move around and explore a lot to get a feel for each neighborhood. West Hollywood and Hollywood seem pretty central to a lot, but SM could be a chilled atmosphere, beach life, work out, drink, volleyball. Was also digging houses in Hollywood Hills. I plan to gig some pop stuff in WeHo, Hollywood, but hang at the Jazz Fusion Baked Potato weekly as well, so HHills looks cool too.

living closer to work is best. i would choose somewhere like sherman oaks, close to 405. sherman oaks is about 25-30 minutes to westlake with limited traffic and is not far from hollywood and the westside for after work activities. SO to santa monica, west hollywood, hollywood proper, and beverly hills is about 20 minutes w/o traffic. if you lived by the beach, there's no way you could ever get to hollywood in anywhere near 20 minutes.
