Is it true that any wild animal on plum island is killed on site? This to me seems incredibly cruel, why do they do this and how are the animals supposed to know not to be there?
As well, is it true they do horrible experiments that likely have killed or tortured millions of animals?
If any of you have news or links about the atrocities please post.
It's an animal disease research center. I think you can make your assumptions to what happens to animals lucky enough to get on that island.
This research is necessary...unless you want to see our livestock sick and diseased.
Of course, it probably also has developed some nice diseases which we can spray on other countries to kill their livestock
on side note... if you go on google satellite images, you can zoom in on the pentagon, the white house and the capitol... go to plum island and zoom in.. all the facilites are pixalized so you cant really see them...
kinda interesting that it's considered more secret than the layout of the buildings where the country is run

google maps and bing maps satellite images work for me on plum island
I meant the research center. In theory, it would still be Plum Island.
i hadn't heard anything like this ... and i'm not saying it's not true... but i would've thought that they would want to keep all this stuff isolated, like on an island, as opposed to a corn field ...

well then... good call.

On September 11, 2005, the United States Department of Homeland Security announced that the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center will be replaced by a new federal facility. The location of the new high-security animal disease lab, to be called the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), has been recommended to be built in Manhattan, Kansas[11]. However, this plan has been called into question by a recent GAO study which states that claims by the DHS that the work performed on Plum Island can be performed safely on the mainland is not supported by evidence.
