Teachers contracts are up for negotiation every few years, that's when they can be changed, and that's when people should be going to board meetings and voicing their concerns.
and obviously if this keeps passing then people are happy with the way things are going.

Apologize for getting off thread, I just dont think sweetheart deals for sports teams at my expense aren't necessary.
No need to apologize, while I do not think the two topics are comparable per se, I do believe they are related.

I do agree with you that sweetheart deals for the sake of a sweetheart deal are killing the taxpayer, whether it's a teacher or police contract, or a sports team that would stay in a location regardless.

The squeaky wheel get the grease. Thats the problem with people complaining on this forum, its a virtual squeaky wheel, no one actually hears it.

Budgets passing in a year in which the increases were marginal and the rain was heavy all day does not mean people are happy with the way things are going.

just because you don't like the way it went doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. Stop blaming the weather for potential lack of turnout. Did you get a count of how many people voted, vs how many people are in the district? Are you just complaining that you didn't get your way like a little kid? Seriously, check the facts before you blame everything.

I have to respectfully disagree with anyone that claims the lack of turnout of NO voters on the weather. If the rain were to keep people in, more likely it would keep the people going to vote YES home. People intent on voting NO would have made it out to do so, knowing that budgets usually pass.

I'm simply stating facts. You are the one thumping on your chest like a baboon stating that the budget passing indicates LIers are fine with teacher compensation and the taxes that go to schools. I'm saying you cannot infer that conclusion based on this one vote.

As for the weather, I will disagree with the poster who said those voting "No" would more likely come out in bad weather. It's in fact the opposite. The PTA has a much stronger base and parents will vote "Yes" to ensure the programs from which they benefit will remain. They have a vested interest in the budget passing and will go the extra mile to make it happen. Those who intend to vote "No" have an uphill battle against those tied to the "school's hip", and those who are ignorant with regards to the costs of the education system.

Dumbass.

Teachers don't just get the "summer" off they get about 205 days off per year. Taxpayers don't pay pro ballplayers or doctors their salaries. You must be a gym teacher with an advanced degree that's in it for "the children'!

Okay, fine. Facts.

Where are your sources?

Honestly I don't expect a reply from this because I doubt you have any sources, just some BS clouded up in your mind to make you feel better.
