I personally would charge less for a vacant house, I would also recommend several of the "Green Cleaning" products that use esential oils which prevent mold and mildew groeth, and would also help prevent comming into the residence and getting that "Creepy vacant" smell.

Default Mother housecleaning

My mother lives in a two bedroom ranch style condo. She lives alone. She is interested in a lower rate for housecleaning. Could you help?

If its any bigger then that and they are only charging you $70 you either got really really lucky with pricing or you should really look around and make sure nothing is missing. I hate to say it but theft is a BIG issue in this industry which is why I do not hire anyone to do cleanings for my clients I do them all myself, I dont have to worry that I hired someone with less then desirable morals.
Yes. I have a friend who is obsessive about neatness and order who has a cleaning person come in only once a week for an efficiency dusting and vacuuming and bathroom once over. He keeps the place immaculate and pays her $35.

I am starting to think I am being overcharged. I pay $70 and the person spend around two hours cleaning. Is this a reasonable fee?
Thank you.
I'm just in upstate NY (Syracuse metro) but when I cleaned, I let the people make an offer of what they wanted and how much to pay. Left to their own consciences - lol - I feel as if I was overpaid.

I NEVER charged by the hour... only by the job. The time became shorter as I grew more proficient at how to time different thigns. It ended up being $75 for 2.5 hours at one house, $50 for 2 hours (easy house to clean, there was just a LOT of cleared sq. footage to sweep/vacuum/mop) at another and $50 for an hour at another... DEEP, satisfying cleaning of a kitchen and bathroom.

I wish I was paid that much to clean our own home. lol

We found someone word of mouth. Wanted $100 every other week, negotiated to $80. 4bd, 2 bath. She does a really nice job, takes 5-6 hours, even straightens up kids toys, shoes, stray clothes. We work too much and were stressed out going too long without cleaning. Made us feel crappy. She dusts shelves we hadn't and wouldn't dust for a year! Money well spent. When I get home on cleaning days the house is gleaming and I am beaming!

Treat her like a saint. I think you are getting a way too good deal. Make sure to give her a nice bonus at Xmas, if you can.

That seems like a great price for the time she spends at your place.

We treat her very well. We also don't ask her for any extras like laundry, windows, refrig, etc. Mostly vaccum and clean bath and kitchen. Just dusting and vaccum in the bedrooms at most. We actually clean more than ever since we hired a cleaner so my wife isn't embarrassed by the house when the cleaner gets there (I hear that's common, LOL)! I don't think avg. $15-$20/hr is chicken feed. Pretty good money for unskilled work. Frankly I've done harder work for a lot less myself and wasn't treated so well. Guess that's why I treat others nicely. What I value most is her professional attitude and trustworthiness. That's a rare commodity these days.
