We rented a high ranch Mother/Daughter house in Selden about 15 years ago. I used to wake up every night at 2 AM to the sounds of Ragtime music, people laughing, and glasses clicking. Cats sleeping with me would pick up their heads, ears go back, and go back to sleep. I learned to sleep through it.
I would sometimes see a man dressed in an old fashioned suit hanging from the upstairs railing. My cats would not go up on that railing.
My older daughter lived in the converted apartment basement. Owner converted part of the garage into the bedroom. Always freezing down there even in the Summers, except for the bedroom. Flies all over the outside windows. Sprayed but they always came back.
The cats would not go into that basement. My daughter tried to carry her cat downstairs, but he jumped out of her arms and ran back upstairs with his fur on end. Terrified of something.
Something was going on in that house, especially the basement.
Some vortex are inter-dimensional portals between points in time and space. So you if you could find two vortex that you can enter say in Sayville and exit in Waterbury you’d still have the issue of not being in the same time-line or reality in the multi-verse that you started. You’d likely not notice except for small things like your wife’s favorite ice cream being vanilla instead of chocolate.
