Chanting “free, free, free Palestine,” an estimated 300 people gathered in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow Saturday, calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and the withdrawal of the Israeli military from the region.
Why aren't they directing this at the one side that can achieve peace in a minute - Hamas? Hamas needs to free the hostages and lay down there arms and there will be peace.

not part of their agenda
There are constantly heartrending stories of starvation in Gaza. Here's one of them, in yesterday's New York Times, Trapped and Starving, 2 Families in Gaza Try to Keep Their Children Alive (link, not paywalled, excerpt below).
Quote:
For those living under Israel’s attacks and a crippling blockade, every day is a race against time. Born in wartime, the baby had not eaten in more than a day, his father said — no formula, no nothing. His parents had already spent the last of their money on food, sold his mother’s gold jewelry to buy milk and begged water from other evacuees to mix the powdered formula. Now even that was gone.
The baby, Jihad, and his parents, Nour Barda and Heba al-Arqan, were trapped now in a storage closet with five other people at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza last month as Israeli troops attacked.
The baby's first name tells you all you need to know.
You are correct that not one mention is made of the authorship of this war, and the ability of the aggressor, Hamas or the people of Gaza, to stop the war. Not one whisper is made of this suggestion. Remember, in any moral sense, Hamas has started and lost the war. Almost all of the dictators and monarchs in history, with the major exception of Hitler, have surrendered long before this point. Hamas is using Palestinians, not only as human shields, but as fodder.
Why aren't they directing this at the one side that can achieve peace in a minute - Hamas? Hamas needs to free the hostages and lay down there arms and there will be peace.
1. To understand why you must suspend all rational thought and all your knowledge of real history and vocabulary.
Then realize that to the pro-Palestinian/anti-Israel protestors (on campus and in the street) Israel is the Western and colonizing aggressors/oppressors in the Middle East and Arabs (including Palestinians) are the victims. The victim cannot be blamed for the situation. Ever. And realize Hamas is made up of Palestinian Arabs (AKA victims).
2. Just to test if your have suspended all rational thought and your knowledge of real history and vocabulary, see if this Harvard protestor nonsense actually makes sense:
“It is unsurprising that Harvard, an institution that materially support Israel’s violence, has made yet another move to curb student protest of the Zionist state, even as that entity is an agent of genocide, apartheid, and settler colonialism.” https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2...est-palestine/
3. Thus, rational questions such as yours simply make no sense to the protestor/demonstrator (which is why virtually none of them even think to assign responsibility to Hamas...and why there is widespread support for Hamas in Palestine and beyond).

Is t his guy making a parody of himself, or does he write for The Onion or The Babylon Bee?

Imagine asking that fella a rational question regarding Hamas. LOL ‘Settler colonialism’ is the coolest part of that gibberish.

I just read most of that Crimson article. I do not know how crimson is affiliated with Harvard, but it is an utter disgrace. Where are the adults in the room?

The Crimson is the student run newspaper at Harvard. Supposedly, the paper has 100% complete editorial freedom.

FWIW, it’s the well-respected student paper up at Harvard.
The protestors at Columbia now want lots of wacky stuff (beyond a Hamas victory and the death of Israel):
At Columbia University, where the pro-Palestinian protest movement started last week, protesters are demanding support for low-income Harlem residents, including housing and reparations, according to Columbia University Apartheid Divest, the student group responsible for organizing the encampment.
The Columbia protesters are also calling for the university to “disclose and sever all ties” with the New York Police Department.
