Again, completely missing the point. It's about JURISDICTION. If he has no direct authority, it's all theater to rile up the voters and has no direct effect on sports or residents EXCEPT to get the county embroiled in legal battles.
He does have the authority. He’s doing it through permitting which is required at Nassau facilities and he controls. Any permit applicant has to attest everyone participating in the sport is their biological sex assigned at birth. If not no permit.
Now will that hold up in the people’s republic of NY after lawsuits? Likely not.

It won't hold up because it's a blatant violation of state and federal law. He can't deny permits based on some of the participants being members of protected classes. The only way to actually address this is through the governing bodies of the actual athletic programs.
If he's not extending the same regulation to all athletic groups (scholastic or not), or to every other group that is using county facilities (bingo clubs?), or addressing any other form of eligibility (age, academics, official place of residence), then he's making very easy work for some lawyer. Now add in the multitude of potentially aggrieved parties: the transgender athlete who can't compete in the event even when the oversight authority for the sport says that athlete is eligible. The school that the athlete represents who can't compete for an athletic championship because of an arbitrary policy. The athletic commissions or the state for the blatant interference into their territory.
Believe it or not, it's possible to understand the concerns of athletes and parents while still also acknowledging that the county executive is a moron whose only real skills are fundraising and press conferences.
Hope everyone enjoys 20 more years of NIFA because of grandstanding.

Standing up for girls used to an admirable quality.
But in the context of the ‘trans boys playing girls sports’ discussion, not so much.
Or at least in some quarters.
Gov Hochul, predictably, turned Blakeman’s order on its head and referenced it as bullying (of the trans kids!). Tomorrow she’ll call it racism.

This is all purely legal speculation on your part though. As of now he does in fact have the authority. 23 states so far (and counting) have banned trans athletes in women’s sports so there is a nationwide precedent for this. Now will it hold up in this state? Probably not.

Did the states bar them from competition generally, through the appropriate governing bodies, or only at the specific events held in state facilities? These are important legal distinctions.
Replace "trans" with "black," Hispanic," "Jewish," or "veteran" which are covered under the same regulations and see why this is a horrible idea to implement from this office in this manner
Here's a stupid question: does the county executive even have any authority in this area? Does he oversee the athletic commissions that run interscholastic sports? Or is this purely for press and some desire to waste taxpayer money on lawsuits?
He controls the Parks Dept which issues the permits and its on county owned land........ so yeah the county executive controls it
Using Governor in front of Hochul is laughable at best...... Cruella barely won and if it wasnt for the lobotomy survivors in the city voting for her en masse Zeldin would be sitting there now

Black or hispanic or jewish doesnt give you an unfair physical advantage...
being born biologically male and pretending you are a female is where the issue is
I'm not sure every Democrat is happy to be supporters of the dangerous "trans boys playing girls sports" movement but very very few will speak up in that regard. Much easier to follow the lead of Hochul and attack Blakeman.
