Considering all the illegal aliens in New York City, how long before Nassau County is hit with this Crime Wave?
There's already and has been for decades thousands of illegals here on LI its nothing new. Most of the illegals in the city are Venezuelans there really are no VZ populations on LI so not many of them have a reason to come here. The illegal population here has always been mostly Honduran and El Sal, which aren't really a large part of the current wave invasion.
There is a Newsday article about it today. Migrants taking low wage jobs, filling voids and working farm jobs on the east end. Do you see that as good or bad tho is the real issue.
Bad could mean you hate low prices and anti small business. The cheap guy doesnt get sick days, health care, workers comp, nor do does the employer pay payroll taxes. Small business are more competitive, more consistent with staff and service and can offer better prices.
Good means you like cheap labor and having your dollar go further eventhough they are taking away the crappiest jobs no one really wants to work. Tough, since crime right? Well, they are here and opportunity is the opiate of masses. Then even more crime when there is nothing to lose...Marx and Engels.
Happening Now: Mayor Eric Adams has decided to start a pilot program where migrants will receive a credit card that will be refilled every 28 days. A family of four will receive $1,000/month.
The illegal families must sign a paper promising that they’ll only use it on food and baby supplies. The program already has $53 million allocated to it. This comes just months after Adams announced budget cuts for schools, libraries, and the police.
Using data over a year old and admitting this was a severe undercount, Newsday nevertheless runs this headline today:
Long Island home to almost 112,000 immigrants living illegally in U.S.
I guess this awkward phrasing (“immigrants living illegally”) is libspeak for what normal people refer to as illegal immigrants or illegal aliens.
In any case, this current number is sure be MUCH higher as Newsday continually admits in the article:
Long Island was home to an estimated 111,900 immigrants living in the United States illegally in 2022, an increase of nearly 20% from a year earlier, when the same population was 95,600, according to a new tally from census data.
The increase comes as more than 174,000 foreign migrants — most having crossed the southwest U.S. border from Mexico and then come north — have been processed through neighboring New York City’s homeless intake system since spring 2022.
But the tally, by the Center for Migration Studies of New York, captures only part of that influx...
