^Theres no chance he lives around here. It’s hard to understand how real estate is here if your not familiar with it here. Imagine saying I won’t build a new house I’ll just remodel even though I can afford it. That’s not a Long Island phrase many people use if at all.

Well there are hundreds of thousands of home owners on Long Island but how many are knocking down houses vs remodeling or making an addition? Occasionally, you will see someone knock down a house and build a new one. But I see people remodeling all the time.

For instance, after Superstorm Sandy, think how many people on the South Shore chose to raise their existing home instead of tearing down the damaged one and building a new one. Actually, here in the Town of Babylon, the process is ongoing and small numbers of people are still raising them.
