Long Island stretches from the East River (or The Narrows) to the Twin Forks. After the Revolution, there were three counties, Kings, Queens, Suffolk. Nassau County came into existence on January 1, 1899. I was born in Long Island College Hospital on Long Island, about 2,000 feet from Upper Bay. The hospital is now part of NYU Langone.
