no, because they will end up being on 24x7 like they are in the city now....... a school zone camera should not active at 1130pm on a saturday night
In Florida (a state many of us think of as backwards), I have seen where school zones have flashing lights around digital speed limit signs, which are enforced only when the kids are arriving or departing the school. During the school day when the kids are in the school, no flashing lights, signs turned off.
A brilliant idea that never occurred to our $250k/year officals .
The school zone speed limit signs in Nassau say “school days, 7am to 6pm. The NYC ones don’t say that.
I’m not saying NYC is right, it’s an obvious cash grab.
But there aren’t enough police to monitor every school zone and I see people speeding through the zone in front of my kids’ school DAILY during drop off times (between 7:30 and 8:30). I’ve complained to the police, and then they monitor for a day or two after which it’s back to selfish people who lack self control speeding with impunity.
Then they need to make speed limit signs that are reflective of the school zone limits. There should not be any other older signs that may have a higher limit. Maybe that would give people a chance to do 25 when the sign says 40.
those blocking the left lane should be ticketed for sure
Maybe, but in New England I was impressed to see the three lanes marked clearly at intervals; passing lane on the left, traveling lane in the middle, and merging lane on the right. If more areas had these simple reminders people would begin to get the idea.
How much was it? Mine was 250.00 in Huntington. I did not see the bus as I was passing it on NY Ave because it was a small bus that was pulled over on the side. I was busy listening to my GPS so I could find where this doctors office was. my husband was pissed but he got over it in a couple days
Mine was $50 but I didn't pass a bus. I was just going 40 in a 25mph school zone on a Sunday when there is no school
