The anti-cop folks are so weirdly irrational that they can blame a cop for this situation and other situations like it. And they are not even embarrassed to do so publicly and in a newspaper interview. Worst of all, they can frequently sucker liberals into buying the nonsense (out of guilt or something).
I agree. What did the "lbs" expect the cops to do, sit and watch until the perp actually shot someone?? "Mental issues" on one person's part, don't give them the right to shoot others, in an effort to vent their frustrations.
He/she/they may have had some obvious mental issues before yesterday. Just guessing.

Serena Liguori, a police reform advocate and executive director of New Hour for Women and Children, an agency that provides services to incarcerated women, said she was "absolutely horrified" watching a police officer strike a suspect with a vehicle.
"If the best response is mowing down somebody with a police vehicle, I find that shocking," Liguori said. "Officers are supposed to be trained to handle the worst-case scenario and this doesn't look like it happened here. Where is the thoughtfulness?"
The epitome of the Monday morning QB from that "advocate". I wonder is she stopped and realized the person was shooting at innocent people driving by...and was taken alive.

How did they get there? Good question. Not even just across the border either, they traveled quite a bit to cause a scene. Either way, I think they will determine this person mentally unfit to stand trial. I could be wrong but thats my guess.
It’s an extremely high bar to be deemed mentally unfit, and even if he meets that criteria that dosent mean you just go free.
