I have Bens close to my house so it’s easy to visit it for a pastrami sandwich and their coleslaw is great too. I still prefer Katz, but that happens once a year if that, I’m in midtown few times a week but making it downtown is a chore.
As for bbq. John Brown in Lic used to be my joint, but now that we are on Li, I had to try a few places but the best one is in Huntington, Ole fields BBQ. Proper every time. Everything is good on the menu. I often smoke ribs and some other meats on my smoker, so it’s nice to compare it to others methods.
Pastrami Plus in East meadow (I think) Best pastrami, potato pancakes coleslaw. Small place but worth it. Dangs BBQ is good too they have 2 locations, Seaford and Islip.
I consider Sempre Fame the best I have been to on LI. How's it compare to Ole Fields?
Old fields is legit. I really like it. I always judge a place by its brisket.
