My information is only anecdotal and observational. but the move from Levittown to Garden City, was not an uncommon one, with a middle move to someplace less pricey.

The final goal of Garden City was the trophy house.
Ok here is the skinny on O'Reilly and his high school days. He was a classmate of my childhood next door neighbor at Chaminade H.S. in Mineola. His residence question bears much confusion much of which he created himself. He never lived in the area that is Levittown - as it is understood. His own words were something like his house was in " the Westbury section of Levittown". Put another way, the Salisbury section of Westbury had Levitt homes the same as the Levittown homes but they are in Westbury. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salisb...unty,_New_York)

Sheena, not trying to nit pick, just trying to set a murky record straight and you are correct that Levittown to Garden City was something many aspired to.

I really don't think jews would be unwelcome anywhere on LI. I mean yeah some towns are more notoriously jewish than others, but it's not like we're living in the Bible Belt.

Manhasset is fine.

Bill O'Reilly went to Chaminade which is in Mineola.

Some actual famous residents of GC are/were Susan Lucci, Nelson DeMille, Dave DeBuscherre (spelling??), Bill Moyers, various Jets and Islanders.
