So, what's other options? What are you making now? If you are making 40k, I would say go ahead.

If you're worried about making it on almost $200K combined with no kids with what I assume are Cadillac benefits you either have (or had and are now in serious debt) a serious spending problem or are looking to buy in King Point, Lloyd Neck or similar.

This thread is a perfect example of how entitled Long Island union workers are and why I moved off of LI. I don't resent them for what they make, but I am in no way going to personally fund their lifestyles and never ending entitlement.

So are you expecting for all of us to say "Like WOW dude, That is some wad of peppermints you are bringing home. This is like you struck it rich!" What is your point? Any fool that gets a substantial increase but in your situation it sounds like you are lazy and do not want to spend, the oh my God an 1 1/2 on the train is a lazy fool. Your time is more important. Grow up and make a decision on your own. If it works for you then you take the job. I still don't understand why you started this idiotic thread. Like hey dudes/dudettes look at me I am riding the cash cow. Oh please!!

When first hit with $150k a lot of people are like wow bit I don't thinks it's extremely good salary. Yes good for sure.
Its an ok base, but if you are the sole earner in a family, that is not going to go very far in Nassau County. There was a recent thread on here that found that it took an average family of 4 about $87k just to "get by". Its impossible for internet strangers to determine whether this is "good" without other info like the benefits, your commute, your familial situation, etc., so I can't comment on that, but $150k goes a lot further in Montana that it does in the greater NYC area.

Combined 200k household is a solid middle class income for the NYC area. I feel ridiculous writing that, but its the unfortunate truth. .

Depends on the current housing situation how good that salary is. Own (what year bought)? Rent?

For 40k gross - you're probably better off moving closer to your job and having your wife quit hers.

I was thinking the same but was afraid to write it. $200K combined income you will live a very comfortable middle class/decent upper middle class life. Crazy.
