That doesn't sound too crazy to me.
They snuck in a few rate hikes and surcharges here and there and certain power tools do consume a lot of energy.
Plus, the workers aint paying the bill so they may be a little careless with useage.
PSEG is very expensive. And during Sandy my bill was sky high with four workers in the house using power tools, plugging in their rechargeable tools and all their cell phones and they had the lights on and occassionally a heater or shop vac.

You will definitely notice a difference if an electric heater is used regularly.
we lived in a 1 bedroom (approx 750 sq ft) apartment in Holbrook and paid about $140 a month to LIPA / PSEG. We did balanced billing and had CAC - which we used all summer long, just kept the thermostat on 74 or 73 degrees. I always thought that was ridiculous given the size of our place.
We had renovation work done last year and the bills were higher than normal. Also, PSEG rates seem higher than the old LIPA bills I received. Finally, PSEG estimates every other month and the estimates seem to be way higher than the actual readings. You can demand that PSEG come to read your meter and not accept an estimate. The problem is that you have to call them every other month when you get an estimated bill.
