Hello, I have a student who is both gifted and has ADHD as well as level one autism and I am wondering whether there any school districts in IL that you would recommend for this population. 135 IQ and needs to be challenged academically or gets bored and gets into trouble but also needs a lot of social and emotional supports. Small student teacher ratio is a big class. We can live anywhere and would be specifically moving to IL for public school services

Is it unacceptable to consider multiple states? We can live anywhere with our jobs, pay taxes, contribute our time and charitable giving to schools.

I grew up in Illinois (barrington). Got a world class education there, but not sure whether that or other schools serve 2e kids well, or what areas / states serve kids well. My child’s needs differ from what mine were, which were minimal.

That is helpful; does anyone on this board have any specific experiences with Naperville high schools that they could share?

Yes. Our kids went through the district. We have one that is bipolar and dyslexic and was on an IEP. Another had a 504 plan for ADD. The district, especially starting in about 5th grade, was superior in handling everything. The district also serves an area that has demands for AP classes, college prep, etc. It covers everything you need.

You do realize that the curriculum is set by the state and not the individual school district?
