Chicago is significantly larger, wealthier, and more diverse than all of those cities. Maybe Oakland is more well-to-do? Chicago's crime is now more dispersed throughout the area and it is impacting a broad cross-section of the public. The fact that seemingly organized criminal activities occur in the city's front yard along Michigan Avenue and elsewhere in the urban core is notable and distressing. Not many will argue that it is the most dangerous city. However, the general sense of lawlessness and lack of accountability is rather unique. Chicago likes to compare itself to New York City and Los Angeles, both of which are substantially and demonstrably safer and not on that list. Chicagoans could give a hoot about Baton Rouge or Birmingham.

Like I said, if you are willing to look up the Police Departments activities online, you'll quickly see it's YOU that has the Rose Colored glasses on. Heck the Youtube's I've watched alone over the last year are pretty horrific on the gang shooting activities and such. Keep hoping for better days.....that's what it will take.
