Our Federal Government needed more prison space. It was going to be spent either way. The only reason this was held up is because of a jackass republican congressman from Virginia who heads the prison committee. He thinks Obama is going to put terrorists in a prison. Which seems rather odd, seems like a good place for them unless they are killed first.

Now wait a minute, I don't agree that it is ignorant-put the "tea" down and swing the pendulum back towards the middle. If the government was going to spend(or waste) the $$, I'm certainly happy it's coming here instead of somewhere else.

Maintainschaos: If you want to focus on Durbin and current Democrats running the state, then fine, but it belongs in the political forum. And if you want to remark on the fiscal policies of Illinois, then you should actually focus on something regarding fiscal policies/waste/government spending. Your remark was clearly directed at Obama (not Durbin, as your reply claims), and you wrote nothing that addressed the people of, the fiscal condition of or the economy of Illinois.

NO it belongs here because it is ILLNOIS politics and affects everyday life through sales taxes, property taxes, growing the employment base and funding public pensions. So are you saying then Senator Obama was a shining knight, a maverick who bucked the Democratic machine? Or was he another who took advantage of it to move up the political ladder?

I agree but maybe it should not have been built but I am glad that the state is getting money for it and the white elephant will be used for something. Lets hope the money the state receives does not find its way into some crooks pocket.
