Nope, we can shoot wolves here bud... To be honest I think there were more Wolves shot than reported too..

El, that is pretty disturbing stuff even if its a real remote possibility...
Most times when we try to "fix" whats wrong in nature it blows up in our collective faces..

The states budget for fish and wildlife is funded by hunting and fishing licenses. The wolves have definitely taken a toll on the elk. Wolves can have two litters a year. If elk population is reduced do to more wolves, hunting license sales will decline hurting wildlife management even more. As a hunter, I am the top of the food chain, I pay to hunt these majestic animals. We don't need another predator. The wildlife ecosystem was doing fine before the wolf reintroduction. They (wolves) are here now but we need to keep a balance. We can't let the population become to high. The people who wanted the reintroduction of the wolves agreed to a sustainable population, we have met that quota and now have a responsibility to keep that population from becoming a problem. I see the kill quota needing to be raised each year to accommodate for wolf population increase. Just my two cents.

When they have to lower the amount of Elk tags available, think how many local people that can have an effect on. Outfitters, guides, sporting goods stores, Etc. Employment opportunities seem skinny enough in Idaho without losing more jobs to wolves. I have to admit that I know zero about the economics of Idaho. But I do know that Wyoming would be in serious trouble without hunting and fishing. I read a report in a Cody newspaper that stated if hunter opportunities diminished any further the airlines would be looking for subsities from local business organizations to keep the airport open. All wolf related.

F&G has already shortened seasons and eliminated cow tags in many areas due to the declining population.

I assumed killing wolves would be illegal as is nearly everything in my neck of the woods. I suppose I am totally preconditioned to accept a burtal overlord - that I cannot even fathom a state government allowing something like that! :P

Moving into the area in June, is it legal to shoot a wolf if it's attacking my dogs on my property?
