sounds to me like sticking with Boise when it comes to Idaho....would be the safest bet....imo

That depends on what is most important to an individual, I think.
Idaho Falls' wages rose more over the past year than anywhere else in the nation; the wages here rose 18.5%, and I.F. now pays better than any city in the state, but the wage increases were not across the board. Low-skill jobs and low demand jobs aren't bringing any higher wages than anywhere else in the state.

And life is more than just wages. Boise has more stuff than any other city, including better night life, bigger cultural events, better sports, better schools and bigger churches than most of the rest of Idaho. Once any city reaches a certain size it becomes more self-prosperous due to size alone if there is enough industry, goods and services that reach outside the city.

These days, more Americans are more comfortable in an urban environment as well. Rural life may sound very pleasant, but it has very few of the big city conveniences and very little 24 hour service in anything much. Isolation is as easily found in a big city these days as it is in the countryside.

What constitutes a safe bet is all up to what an individual considers a safe bet to be.
