Lightbulb Gambling

Well, thats called self control when you go and only spend $20.00 personally I don't know anyone who would only spend that much and walk away. Even losing $50.00 for what you have nothing to show for it. At least when you go on a spending spree for clothes you come home with something.
As far as video games, smoking, sports, newspapers or magazines these do not cause spousal and child abuse, divorce or bankruptcy. (I guess they could).

They actually build these for there income but, where does the money go not to improve their way of living, education for their kids, housing for their people etc. Its a waste of money and time to sit in a smoke filled place with your children doing God knows what so you can spend time away from them.

If you have no one and chose to spend your money and time sitting getting no where thats your business but, if you have a family your time and money should be spent on them. I would buy my kids a video game any day rather then put it in some slot machine hoping to win the big one!!

It's a good thing there's different strokes for different folks right? We can agree to disagree about gambling IMO

BTW, I don't have kids to worry about when it comes to whatever form of entertainment I elect. Cleo is my dog

Wink women's best friend

Cleosmom,
Well, your dog is lucky he already knows you love him by the hugs and treats. Most kids can only wish they knew that kind of love. This conversation has been fun and we got through it without bashing each other. Nice too know people know how to discuss without getting heated.

Yepperz, actually I have two of them Cleo the wonder dog is my best girl, she's totally in tune with all of my emotions and mourns worse than the kids ever did when her daddy heads out ( the kids are his from a previous marriage and are grown now ) Tony, my male is as rowdy as any four year old little boy human, dog or otherwise But he's also my snuggle bug

Both are rescues and are my world. They see their vet twice a year, get annual blood work to make sure there's nothing underlying going on and even go in for teeth cleaning on schedule.

Ooops, got a little carried away with braggin' about them. Sorry!

And yes, we can have a conversation without any bashing

Of course there is don't be silly.

Each Tribe, since they are considered a "soviergn nation" has it's own laws regarding alchohol etc on the reservation. Alchohol is indeed served on the Nez reservation, they are also tax exempt on other vices such as gambling and tobacco. So the Federal government doesn't even get their cut of all these terrible vices when people do them on the reservation. That is one reason they are so popular.

Pardon me, wasn't being "silly" simply ignorant as every tribal casino I've been to did not serve/sell alcohol. Before responding to to your reply I spoke to my sister who confirmed that of which I knew (Table Mountain casino in Friant , CA) does not serve alcohol, but another one she mentioned, built since I have been there, does serve it.

Just thought I'd chime in. I actually live in Kamiah,Idaho! The casino is small, does not serve alcohol and has only slot machines. As for the town itself, the economy is getting worse every day. Jobs are very low paying, average $5-$6 an hour. The only good paying jobs are Government, logging and the school. Kamiah school teachers are the 7th highest paid in the state. There has been a huge migration of early retirees from California. They buy up land and build huge, overpriced homes. That has caused real estate prices to skyrocket. Property taxes have also gone through the roof. The Nez Perce are generaly very friendly, but quiet people. There is no hatred for the whites. I do have a real problem with the Californians though. They complain about everything. Not enough shopping, but they travel hours to shop in other places. No cultural activities, but they say they came here for the quite small town life. Kamiah is dieing! The main street is folding up fast. No new businesses are going to move in when things are closing down so fast. It is becoming increasingly more expensive to live here and with the continual loss of jobs, there won't be much left here except a bunch of wealthy Californians saying, "Hey, where did everybody go?" Thats why I'm Outbound
