The TP roll holders here have a nickname. They're the type with a crossbar that rests on the bracket, but a hinge on one end lets you lift the bar vertically to receive a new roll. Then it folds back horizontal again with a quiet but satisfying click. A cinch to fill, but the roll stays put even when treated rather violently.

So, what's the nickname?

Madame Guillotine.

Who needs TP (and holder) - an antiquated technology that infectious disease and colorectal specialists say is neither efficient nor hygienic. Bidets have replaced them long time ago - you’re just never going to get as clean as rinsing with water.

I think they are WONDERFUL.
I never thought about this before--------but---- in the category of I couldn't do this again if I tried-- several years ago, I was replacing a toilet paper roll. I had the little plastic rod thingy in my hand, and was starting to place the roll on it. A half a second before that, I flushed the toilet.
The plastic thingy slipped from my hand, into the bowl and was flushed down the toilet. I thought wow...........and then it must have gotten lodged at a perfect angle and we had PROBLEMS after. (think horrible yucky). I called a plumber, who was able to unclog the toilet and lo and behold retrieved that little plastic thingy. For the record, liquid was fine flushing but anything beyond that was not.
So when I see these permanently attached pivoting roll holders, I think "how brilliant!!".

The toilet paper roll holder has a pivoting arm. This seems to be a very convenient feature where I don't have to remove the entire rod.

I was wondering, what are your thoughts on such a design? Do you think they are convenient?
I have had one for years. I love them.

I'd hate to think what someone would think of just "having" TP; and it being handy!

First world problems run a muck!
I find it interesting all the complaints about discussing interior design and decorating subjects in the interior design and decorating forum, where it's 'designed' to have discussions on topics like this, which are ALL "first world problems..."

Is it just that it's "too small" of a decorating question to be discussed in a decorating forum?

I use a bidet spray, and never "run out" of paper.

We put 3 floating shelves above the toilets and put a stack of 3 rolls (2 rolls with one on top) on one of the shelves along with a little faux succulent plant in a white pot. The other shelves have things like a clear container of cotton balls, a clear container of cue tips, a white room spray and more of the little faux succulent plants.

I can look in the bathrooms and tell at a glance which rooms need another roll or two.

It's just another thing I have to pick up, when I clean. No thanks.
