I have recently been buying all new Moen and Delta fixtures in my bathroom to update it to a more modern design (waterfall sink faucet, dual showerhead with rain head and handheld, modern valve trim, and new tub spout). Beyond the plumbing fixtures, most recently I have purchased the matching bathroom accessories from Moen.

The toilet paper roll holder has a pivoting arm. This seems to be a very convenient feature where I don't have to remove the entire rod.

I was wondering, what are your thoughts on such a design? Do you think they are convenient?

I stack a few toilet paper rolls on the rod of the toilet plunger next to the toilet. Works fine, cost around $1.25.

Your requests sound rather Roman/First World in nature.

We bought free standing toilet paper holders at Lowe's. Best I have ever had and never plan to use any other kind ever again.

I do! We got those when we upgraded our bathrooms. They are very convenient.
The only problem is, we have a cattle dog who LOVES to scarf on toilet paper, so if he gets in the bathroom, it's toast! So, in that bathroom, the TP is on the windowsill most of the time.

I have one pivoting paper holder, and I like it. It’s very easy to use.

There are no cons with our pivoting TP holders.

It's slightly more convenient since you can change rolls w/one hand versus two.

If you think this is "convenient"...
I'd hate to think what someone would think of just "having" TP; and it being handy!

First world problems run a muck!

I recently had a bathroom remodeled and I have one of these pivoting arm paper holders. The first time I changed a roll of paper I couldn't figure out how the dang thing worked. I chalk it up to the aftereffects of a TBI I suffered awhile back. It's a pretty good idea. I did figure it out, but it was a real "WTF" moment the first time I encountered it.

I don't like all those cute little TP holders, I always end up yanking the roll off onto the floor. Give me the traditional kind with the spring loaded shaft and two stanchions.

Given a choice between using two hands vs. one hand to get my TP, I'll always pick the one handed option.

I've never felt the urge to replace the TP roll holders any of my houses happened to have. The current one has the pivoting arm type. While they are a tiny bit more convenient than the spring loaded classic can't say I've ever spent much time ruminating over how much. As long as the roll stays off the floor and doesn't take up valuable space on the vanity top I'm happy! Guess that means I'm a Spartan instead of a Roman when it comes to bathroom fixtures .
