Moving to a new city & I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods. I'm searching for a place to rent now, in a city with heavy crime areas. I'm hoping there's an app or map where I can paste an address into the search bar, and the map will show me the name of the neighborhood it's in, or even just the crime rates or even a simple crime rating will do.

So far all I have found is maps that show crime rates by color coding, but I have no idea where the property is that I'm looking for information on, on that map.

Basically any way to make this process of searching more efficient and faster.

Any ideas?

Try spotcrime dot com where you can enter a zip code, city or street/city which will display a map with symbols indicating recent crimes. A bottom left option to ‘view crime’ will present high level info. Click on a row and more info is presented. As best I can tell, it seems only two weeks of data is available.

I use "Neighborhood Scout". In addition to the color coded maps (which I personally find useless), they have a listing of the 10 safest neighborhoods in your chosen city.
