A leafy green grass has and is taking over what was lawn, spreading to neighbors, what are my options??
Maybe you should take a picture. I doubt anyone is going to have an idea what this leafy green grass is. My neighbors yard is taken over by crabgrass. I guess you could call that weed a "leafy green grass."
You might be right about crab grass, never had a green thumb,
This is in CT,did notice as I drove out today all the yards pretty much same.We did not have it last year, first time.As you look down you can see regular grass.
Regular lawn, grass more nearer to a toothpick in size.Guess we will be happy if it is green.
I'm in DE where we had the wettest spring imaginable, followed by some weeks of drought and when it rained again, this horrible grass spread all over. It does look like some kind of crab grass. I don't know how we're ever going to get rid of it.

it has been wet here in CT also and you probably have crab grass,do not know if winter will kill it and have to have lawn treated next spring. The stuff came in like wild fire!!
I am retired and don't pay attention to much but today went out with car and noticed it on all the properties
My neighbor on right is just starting and same on left

Reason: spelling
My neighbor on right was complaining that they pay for a lawn service and still ended up with this stuff. If it is a kind of crabgrass, winter won't kill it. I wish it wasn't so hot because I have a picture of myself sitting on a piece of cardboard and pulling them up one by one. They are wide spreading plants with a big central bunch of root and if the ground is damp, you can pull the whole thing up. So satisfying. Then overseed.
What bothers me is I don't remember having any of this before now. Wild fire is the word.
I mowed mine last night before deluge lightning downpour.I can see what was regular lawn underneath.
Did notice my next door neighbors nice lawn being run over by crabgrass, what was a manicured lawn, goes like wild fire, new owner, previous owner used lawn service.
It is unbleavable how fast it takes over,I was hoping someone had an answer.
There are only 2 answers and they are to pull it up or poison it. I don't know where it came from but it sure is ugly and I hate poison. I mowed it today and I guess we'll see, but it plans to rain all week here, so I expect it to grow back.
