Neither is in a bad neighborhood so it's a wash in terms of safety. In terms of a nicer location I would opt for the Renaissance, especially if able to secure a higher floor with a view of the Intracoastal Waterway and Oceanfront. The Renaissance is also a quick drive down the street to the Southport Raw Bar or across the inlet behind the hotel to 15th Street Fisheries, two of the more iconic Fort Lauderdale seafood restaurants.
