National Geographic Magazine has attributed the increase in seaweed on our beaches and those of the Caribbean and Mexico to fertilizer run off feeding seaweed growth in the Atlantic Ocean by way of the Mississippi from farmlands in the South and the Midwest that border the Mississippi.

I maintain my stance that the beaches in Fort Lauderdale are pretty meh compared to those of the world at large. Nobody has to agree with me.

I was on the beach all day yesterday and that is exactly what the water looked like.

Crystal, clear and aquamarine.

No, Palm Beach is no closer to the Gulf Stream than Fort Lauderdale.

Our water was gorgeous yesterday, no sargassum.

Same exact place I was Memorial Day. The beach at the end of Las Olas Boulevard. It was stunning yesterday. No sargassum in sight.

Yes, it was gross Memorial Day. And packed. Yesterday there was no one on the beach.

I was in Deerfield this weekend, same issue with the beach! I’ve never been to Fort Myers Beach, would you recommend that beach for this weekend for perhaps some nice(r) water? Looking for a day trip.
