To the OP: Glad you're enjoying it here so far. Nobody can say for sure what the future holds, but you seem to have done your due diligence and approached your move with the correct mindset, which is half the battle in adjusting to life here. Congratulations!

I'm also rather vexed that someone would bring up frequent hurricanes. We haven't had a direct hit in 11 years (yes, Matthew gave us a scare, but close doesn't count). There's no way to predict when the next one will hit, but aside from the aberrations of 2004 and '05, the stereotype of a hurricane strike every year or two is simply not true. And thanks to Matthew, we had a chance to practice if one does hit.

Congrats on your move and am happy to hear you love it! My wife is fond of the area and we have dear friends who live there and like it.

I wasn't trying to be non-supportive - she literally just moved here.
A monkey can move things from point A to point B.

I genuinely hope the OP posts more as time goes by.
Not in the hopes things head south for her.. but everyone goes through a honeymoon phase for at least the first year when they get here.

What I find hysterical are the realtors on here chasing business.

Congrats on the move!

We've been here in Colee Hammock for 3 1/2 years and absolutely LOVE it! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

We moved from South Carolina and the summers here are much better than they were in SC. Less humid.

Amazing how some just can't stand to see others happy. Congrats on the move. We LOVE IT here and wouldn't live anywhere else. I have lived in Sunrise as well and also had a business there. I'm not living in Davie and have a couple businesses in Plantation a block from Sunrise.

As you have found out, if you make the most of it, there is nothing quite like it. I thought Boston was "ok" to visit but would NEVER have interest living somewhere like that. I don't imagine we will ever move from the area. So many parks, museums, and just general things to do - it's amazing. And with all the new stuff coming to Sawgrass, it's just that much better. You don't realize just how much we have here until you visit other areas... this is an incredible place to be.

Let us know how you feel a year from now. That's usually the time frame for the "new" to wear off, and we see the place as it really is. After the honeymoon ends the marriage begins.

Realtor boosterism is a known problem, which is why the forum has a specific warning on this in the TOS. Sort of like a medical condition. Incurable w/o a change of career.

I know a few of you have mentioned the realtors commenting, but I hope you realize I have a life outside of CD and am meeting people in real life who aren't realtors lol. One of my new friends has lived in my town for 10 yrs and loves it, and my babysitter is a transplant from New England as well. Those are just two people amongst the many i've met since moving here.

Its very possible I could hate it in a year or two...but I doubt it. we shall see, though

Congrats on your move. I moved to FL in 1983 and still love it. I don't like in Broward any more but did enjoy my time there.

This is the norm these days. That's why nobody posts on this forum anymore. It is a magnet for negative nancies.
