I'm making Jambalaya for dinner. We have chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.

Boohoo!
The Church gives dispens to those who work in hospitality and their carnival festivities are on Ash Wednesday. Considering the amount of time I spend in the kitchen - that qualifies for hospitality.

We had an early dinner and will take the dog for a walk before it gets dark.

I made seared tuna on a bed of greens and warm French lentil salad along with roasted beets/shallot and goat cheese stacks.

No Valentine's Day for me, but seeing as I am observing Ash Wednesday for the first time in years--God only knows why--I am meatless today. Just had an Amy's Vegetable Pot Pie.

Grilled Steak
Oven-Roasted Asparagus
Baked Potato
Wine: Beckman Syrah
Dessert: Chocolate Raspberry Torte and Coffee

and watching the movie "Chocolat"

We now ALWAYS eat in -- much less expensive, better "service" (lol), and a nicer atmosphere (candlelight and a blazing wood fire in the fireplace)

Just because we're retired seniors and have been married for 39 years doesn't mean that we don't enjoy a romantic dinner!

I feel your pain, too. Right after Mass and receiving ashes, I hit the local coffee shop for a large stack of banana pancakes as my one meatless meal of the day.

Those beets look awesome. I love beets but my wife doesn't.

For dinner tonight, she wanted to go out for Mexican.

We has sushi for dinner and Ice cream for dessert. Did not even realize it was Ash Wednesday. Haven't observed that in 30 years.

I had a prime rib in the freezer from Christmas, so I made that, with roasted baby potatoes and green beans.

We ended up just having grilled smoked beef sausages on ciabatta rolls, with French fries and salad with blue cheese dressing.
