I've given up traditional soft drinks - both diet and regular. I've found a few things that satisfy the need, like when eating something savory, like pizza. I tried Polar Ice orange vanilla. Adding Stevia was the only thing that brought out the subtle flavors. I've seen some drinks at places like Trader Joe's but I'm looking for ideas from other people about their faves, and what they consider a better alternative.

I buy flavored seltzer in any number of flavors; my favorite brands are Bubly and Waterloo.

I love ginger ale. Not sure if it's considered healthy but I drink i as I like the flavor. C*ock & Bull is my favorite.

I got a SodaStream and make my own sparkling water. I prefer it unflavored.

I buy bottles of plain ol' seltzer and add a bit of flavoring or juice to it. Usually ends up a lot less sugary than prepared sodas. So far, haven't found any of the so-called no-calorie/healthy varieties I could stomach more than once. They all seem to have a brief scent but taste pretty much the same.

I do that as well. Two juices that go well in it at a 1 to 5 ratio are grape, and grapefruit if you like the tang. Much of the time I like it unflavored as well, or as a mixer.

My wife and I make our own kombucha. We put it in thick glass bottles with a bit of fruit puree to develop carbonation. Right now I am drinking one we flavored with Honeycrisp apple cider and chai spices. Yesterday was one flavored with peach puree and a habanero pepper. Lots of good probiotics for the digestive system.

Don't know if this is everywhere but my favorite is the flavored seltzers from Syfo. They came in tangerine, wild cherry, lemon/lime & plain. I like that it has fizz and a little flavor with no sweet taste at all.

That's what I'm looking for, sometimes a sweeter taste from fruit (as has been suggested) or a little flavor and slight taste. Adding just a tiny smidgen of a good Stevia (some of them are blech) has done it for me with the Polar Ice Orange Vanilla. These drinks tend to be more expensive so I can see where a Soda Stream would be very useful.
