Yeah...the Op may be long gone now...who knows. Great area though...I almost semi-retired there in the Wild Heron neighborhood where the Greg Norman Sharks Tooth country club is at in Santa Rosa, just West of PC.

We also looked at 2 neighborhoods walking distance from Captain Anderson's restaurat, but being that close to the water scared us further inland to Wild Heron. We balked on the area due to not enough cinder block homes being on the market back then, and they were asking crazy high prices on stick built homes...no thx.

Default Downtown Panama City, FL.

I found this video of Downtown Panama City, FL. This video shows Bay County well taken care of and appreciated. I saw the Courthouse (on video) while hoping to see Alvin's Island store(s). Does anyone remember the live alligator shows in the bathing suit shops? How could anyone forget?

Panama City, FL. Downtown

The colorful exterior of Martin Theatre beginning from 1950's continuing until hurricane Michael came through the panhandle. This article says to be expecting the community ribbon-cutting gala event.

We end up in Bay County a fair amount because there are some nice hiking trails over there, and I’d call it a mixed bag- the west side/Panama City Beach side was largely undamaged by Michael and there’s some gentrification going on in parts of the beach where the land is worth more than the houses on top of it and you’re getting rebuilding accordingly.

The Lynn Haven area was affluent enough pre-Michael that people could afford lawyers that would get insurance companies to pay up on claims. Some other areas of Panama City proper, not so much, and there’s a lot of abandoned property and places with vacant lots where homes used to be. It doesn’t look apocalyptic like it did in 2019 but if you know what it looked like pre-Michael, there are a lot of pretty obvious scars and the tree canopy in general is about 10-20% of what it used to be. (And even pre-Michael, there were some major streets through town that were still effectively 1979)

It doesn’t help that assorted local government officials stole a whole bunch of recovery funds from the citizens of Bay County. Corruption is kind of a default setting in terms of how a lot of business gets done over there.

How are the roads driving out to Apalachicola Hwy 98? A reserved forest on one side and the Gulf on other side?

Is The Seafood Festival in Aplicachola happening this year - the first weekend of November? We used to go every year for my birthday - I enjoyed spending the weekend in our RV at the festival.

We haven’t gotten east of Panama City along the coast post-Michael ands get our tv channels from Mobile-Pensacola and not Panama City so I don’t have a recent update.
